Buonriposo is situated in soothing
undulating hills of the Val d'Orcia.
This is the area made famous by the
filming of The English Patient. This
valley is renowned since the end of
the first millennium for being an
important stage on the Via
Francigena, the great medieval route
from France to Rome, that led
pilgrims to the heart of Christianity.
More than twenty castles and rest
houses "ospedali" crowned the valley
bordering the road. One of them,
named "Bounriposo", meaning good
rest, has become a vacation house for
lovers of the Val d'Orcia. This
carefully restored 16th century house is
surrounded by wheat fields and clay
hills and faces an eleventh century
tower. Pienza and Montalcino can be
seen in the distance. The owners found
Buonriposo as a ruined peasants house
During the restoration, some bricks were
found to be dated 1560. In restoring it to
its final transformation as a comfortable
family house in the country, the owners
aim has been to respect and point out
various periods of the building, thus
avoiding the tendency to unify buildings
with fake rustic interiors. Rooms with
beamed ceilings are good sized and open
out to the beautiful views of clay hills,
wheat fields and cypress trees The very
large patio is shaded by a pergola with
opens to the pool.

traditional country style kitchen. Well
equipped with two five burner stoves.
